
Minutes of a meeting of Clifton Parish Council held on Thursday 9 th April 2009 in Clifton Community and Sports Centre, Whiston Crescent, Clifton at 7. 30 pm

Public Forum: There was no Public Forum
2. Apologies: Apologies were received from Mr D. Bullen, Mr S. Fish and Mr S. Melia
3. Minutes: The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, 12 th March 2009, a copy of which had been circulated to each member of the Council were agreed to be a true record and signed.
4. Matters arising from the minutes :
4.1 War Memorial: It was reported that Allianz had enquired whether bollards had been installed as requested and a reply confirming this had been sent. The memorial stone was in the stone mason's yard in Shefford and had been viewed. This stone was not an exact replica of the original; the face was recessed and more space had been left at the bottom to allow for additional names. The Conservation officer, Mr Uff would be inspecting it shortly; until then no further action would be taken. A grant of £7,500.00 had been received from Mid Beds District Council.
4.2 Allotments :- There was nothing further to report.
4.3 Anti-glare- It was reported that MBJ had now measured the windows and intended fitting it shortly.
4.4 Wall of Remembrance had been formally opened by the Archdeacon of Bedford on 15 th March. .
4.5 Invoice for spraying re-submitted to County Council and a cheque for £240.00 had now been received. This was noted.
4.6 Playing Field Committee were in favour of installing a Lincat hot water boiler and were seeking further estimates.
4.7: Litter Picking Day/weekend: 14/15 March: The litter pick was considered to have been a successful event with councillors, organistions and individuals taking part. In excess of 30 bags of litter had been collected from the Community Centre and it was noted that the appearance of the village had improved since that weekend.
4.8 Village of the Year Copies of the questionnaire had been circulated. The answers on these would be collated and the entry submitted.
4.9 Resignation of Mr Alan Burnage: It was reported that Mid Beds District Council had been advised of the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Alan Burnage. Notices of Casual Vacancy had been posted. The Chairman read a copy of the letter sent to Mr Burnage on behalf of the Council and suggested that a picture of a view in Clifton painted by Mrs S. Ashton should be purchased at a cost of £75.00and presented to Mr Burnage at a date yet to be arranged. This was agreed by all present and a cheque was drawn.
7.5 Andrew Good quoted a figure of under £50.00 so has been told to go ahead – Jack notified committee by e-mail
